I like the direction! The main thing that I’m skeptical about is the abilitiy to evaluate capital allocation strategies.
e.g. “Develop a consensus mechanism that evaluates capital allocation strategies based on predefined metrics”
We have thought about this a lot and I think the general conclusion is: The more short-term, tighly scoped a grant allocation mechanism is, the easier it is to evaluate. For anything long term it becomes incredibly hard. There’s just a ton of noise, it becomes almost impossible to imply any causality, etc.
It would be a dream to have a “testnet” type of model to compare different mechanisms, but I currently can’t see how that’d possible.
The simpler approach of comparing allocation mechanisms based on community satisfaction with the outputs becomes incredibly suspeptible to bias.
