Summary

DeVouch is an open-source decentralized reputation layer built on the Ethereum Attestation Service, enabling trusted ecosystem members like Optimism delegates, badgeholders, and Gitcoin stewards to vouch for or flag projects using onchain attestations. These reputation signals are aggregated across ecosystems (Gitcoin, Giveth, Optimism Retro Funding), allowing funders to identify credible projects across ecosystems.

DeVouch is a mechanism developed by Giveth, which has already successfully integrated Allo Protocol to enable recurring donations. DeVouch extends this work by creating a reputation layer on top of Gitcoin projects utilizing Allo registries.

We are now proposing to integrate DeVouch into Gitcoin Gardens, enabling any Gardens community to benefit from transparent, verifiable, and user-generated trust signals. Projects applying to funding pools within Gardens will be eligible to receive vouches or flags from respected community members.

With support from the Gitcoin Garden pool, we’re also seeking funding to finalize and deploy a Custom Resolver contract that will:

  • Introduce micro-fee logic (~$0.10) to sustain DeVouch as a public good
  • Enable bundling multiple attestations per transaction for cost efficiency
  • Continue to provide reputation infrastructure for capital allocators and recipients to improve accountability

How Are We Aligned with the Gitcoin Garden?

The Gitcoin Garden pool aims to grow Web3’s capital allocation layer by funding interoperable, community-aligned mechanisms. DeVouch advances this vision through:

  • Verifiable Reputation Layer: Projects in Gitcoin Gardens can be vouched for or flagged via DeVouch attestations, which are visible to all stakeholders in the pool.
  • Community-Led Trust Signaling: Gardens empowers communities to govern public goods funding. DeVouch enhances this by allowing individuals to add subjective, attestable insights.

DeVouch’s open and extendable project indexer and custom resolver allow for deeper composability between Gitcoin, Allo, and other capital allocation platforms.
