This is the sixth update (Week #6) as part of our quest to design and build a funding readiness framework. See initial proposal, week #1, week #2, week #3, week #4, and week #5 updates here.
What we planned to do
-
Review project submissions and evaluator feedback
-
Send project submission to evaluators to test the mechanics
-
Make changes to the framework as per feedback
-
Submit a final working version of the framework
What we did
-
Reviewed and discussed feedback from an evaluator and considered changes
-
Made a few wording changes to the project and evaluator statements
-
Discussed the distinction between general and specific questions
What we learned
-
In deciding whether to be general or specific with questions (e.g., describe why your team is the right one for this project vs. describe why your team’s skills and qualifications are right for this project), we came to the conclusion that what the project chooses to include in their answer may be just as meaningful as the actual substance of the answer.
-
This indicates that general questions may actually be more effective at understanding just how well a project knows itself, its finance, the problem it’s solving, etc., than specific questions where the project is guided towards an answer
Challenges encountered
- Ran into trouble getting projects to fill in the framework for test purposes in a timely fashion
Next steps
-
Get test submissions and feedback from projects
-
Make changes to the framework as per feedback
-
Submit a final working version of the framework
